"..curious Italian baroque work, covering in verse the period from Adam and Eve until the birth of Christ, written by Emanuele Tesauro (1592-1675), one of the most interesting figures of the Italian "concettismo". That period is divided into 6 ages, each part containing the genealogy of the patriarchs of the Old Testament and Latin poems representing their history and symbolic value in relation to the birth of Christ treating in a symbolic way Christ's genealogical descent from Adam. The six ages are: Mundi pueritia (pastores), Mundi adolescentia (milites), Mundi juventus (duces), Mundi virilitas (reges), Mundi senectus (solitarii) and Nova aetas (sancti).
