- Patriarchae Sive Christi Servatoris Genealogia, Per Mmundi Aetates Traducta, A.D. Emanuele Thesauro. Ex officina Rogeri Danielis
London 1651 First English Edition Hardcover Very Good TEXT IN LATIN 8vo, ontemporary full cream limp vellum with hand-letterd spine, some cupping to bds, a year on the rear pastedown, the text block has a contemporary name on the top margin of the titlepage and is otherwise unmarked and generally clean throughout, I saw on smudge near the last page and pages have some age toning to the edges. Contains a Christian biblical genealogy, including tree charts. "..curious Italian baroque work, covering in verse the period from Adam and Eve until the birth of Christ, written by Emanuele Tesauro (1592-1675), one of the most interesting figures of the Italian "concettismo". That period is divided into 6 ages, each part containing the genealogy of the patriarchs of the Old Testament and Latin poems representing their history and symbolic value in relation to the birth of Christ treating in a symbolic way Christ's genealogical descent from Adam. The six ages are: Mundi pueritia (pastores), Mundi adolescentia (milites), Mundi juventus (duces), Mundi virilitas (reges), Mundi senectus (solitarii) and Nova aetas (sancti). Clark, Walter van Tilburg The Ox-Bow Incident Random House

The blank preliminary page that follows the endpaper has been glued to the front endpaper so that they seem like one page. The book is otherwise near fine, with an excellent text block. just a hint of even aging to the spine strip. Inscribed and dated by Clark on the front endpaper. 017862
