Victor Hugo Ninety-Three George Routledge and Sons
1889 Hardcover Very Good 2 4to volumes in full green cloth with paper spine titles labels. Titles-pages printed in red & black. Profusely illustrated throughout. Covers soiled/ -some worse than others see scans,. , vol I has lost most of it's paper spine label. Some marks on the endpapers. More so on Vol1. which has been read more than Vol II which has most of it's pages still unopened. Both blocks looks pretty fresh throughout...with light musty smell to the paper. Beautifully printed The paper is similar to Japanese vellum, but not quite as shiny. ) Easily among the finest illustrated versions of Hugo's works ever published, not just because of the large size but because of the quality of the printing and the quantity and variety of the illustrations. Some full page and many textual insets. Vol1 has a repair to a start on the top of the front inner hinges that was expertly done, leaving just a scar. Hinges intact. Vol II is a little tighter than Vol I but still, If you don't mind some superficial soiling, the internals are surprisingly fresh 201418 Price:
