large 8vo, green decorative cloth,. 55 illustrations & 13 Maps. The backing is a bit shaken but holding well, inner hinges are tight, fabric frayed a bit at the extremities. Text block is generally fine throughout (endpapers evenly toned, are a different paper stock than the book) Excellent elaborate gilt & black cover design is bright with the spine printing present but evenly toned a bit, red border on titlepage. Bottom edges uncut. A wonderful journey back to Old New York (read about the Kissing Bridge that stood just about where 77th & 3rd Ave is today, how terrible certain parts of Greenwich village used to smell and why.. (this wasnt even that long ago) and many other amazing facts. Vivid prose, charming anecdotes, and many excellent illustrations make this a uniquely wonderful journey back in time. The book itself is now an antique so its interesting as well to read the author's reference's to the NY of his day. 285p plus catalogue 200846
